Under Self Construction . . .

Under Self Construction . . .

We have all had tough times and been through tough times, but they rarely last, however tough people do!  This segment is about You, yourself and no one else.  Are you living your Credo?  Do you have a motto?  Are you waking up each day and making a commitment to become the best you can be, however little progress you may see today or think you can achieve.  Are you Believing in yourself?  Are you challenging yourself, enough?  Are you progressing?  Are you reaching new heights, setting new goals, exceeding your own limits?  If not, then you better check yourself at the mirror and I’m not talking about your hair.  I’m talking about Mirror Management.  Waking up, motivated and ready to tackle the most difficult task, challenge that has been set forth.  Some of these are in your control and some aren’t.  What are you doing to be a force for good?  A force to better yourself.  A force to make those around you better?  What is your Self discovery and self reflection look like?  Are you Under Self Construction?

TRUTH - the hardest pill to swallow . . .

TRUTH - the hardest pill to swallow . .

For many reasons, TRUTH is the hardest pill to swallow. Most people do not like to hear the TRUTH.  Why?  Sometimes its personal.  And it can be negative.  No one likes to hear negative things about themselves, their family or event their friends.  Although, some of these people like to talk shit on their boss(es) and about their company or their specific job.  Funny how that is.  Sadly though, most people in the work place, as I have come to find out, are not truly honest and they only reveal what they want, they prefer holding back, most of the time, especially critical and key elements.  Even the slightest detail, smallest amount of information can be vital to a task, which some may say is simple and not necessary.  Oh, but it is.  It always is.  Holding back bits and pieces of the job does not make sense to me.  Why would a boss not want his or her people to be successful.  Ultimately, this makes them successful.  This creates collaboration, unity and a stronger team.  By holding back elements of the job at hand and/or over-all direction of the dept. or company, can create a gap.  A gap in productivity, a gap in effectiveness and in time.  This process is bullshit and I am calling it out.  You may disagree, but you know I’m right.  If you take the time and really think back in your career, where some manager or so called leader left you out of an important conversation, did not invite you to a meeting and left you hanging without vital information, only to find yourself needing this information and having to make a decision based on facts, historical data, without having all of the necessary information.  How did this make you feel?  Did you feel like part of this team?  So you’re telling me, this has never happened to you.  You have never done this to anyone else?  You had someone’s careers in your hands and you did absolutely everything you could to empower them, to help them succeed and to make them a team player.  You never took credit for something that was not yours?

At the end of the day, the TRUTH is very important to our overall success and growth.  Simply put, we need to be more honest with people and we need to accept the truth, although it make sting a bit, at the time, it will help us over the long-term.

Swallow it . . . Eat this stuff like candy.
